My time is worth something to me.

For those of you following along my banking saga

I paid the $35.

After all was said and done, SmugMug refunded the annual fee (of their own volition), and Citizens backed down from the majority of the fees they’d charged, leaving me $35 overdrawn. Again, on a closed account, but who’s keeping track…

Today, I called Citizens’ collections department and paid the $35 by check and asked that the account be closed. Again.

Hopefully, this is the end of it. I’m lucky that $35 isn’t going to mean that we can’t eat this week, or that we have to make other budget decisions.

Not everyone has that luxury.

It's blood money. They can be worse than the mafia, so good riddance. I hope.

    I'd consider this a success!
  • Sorry you had to give into the fee, but hopefully it's over and done with.

I had a similar problem with another bank with closing an account for my grandfather, which I had been left in charge of, after he died. I think account closing is a commonly poorly handled process with a lot of banks. I loved your email to them.
