A Question of Perspective

Best of 2009 – Food

Today’s missive: December 12 New food. You’re now in love with Lebanese food and you didn’t even know what it was in January of this year.

I’m an eclectic eater. I like pretty much all kinds of food, with a bent toward Asian (all varieties), Mexican (and Dominican and Puerto Rican – they don’t seem to have much of either of these in CO, though there’s an abundance of fab Mexican food), and Italian. And throw in some latkes for good measure since it is Chanukah and all.

I could exist on sushi alone without complaint.

My new food this year – the garlic knot. This is seriously delicious, people. They sell them at what seems to be the only place in the Denver area that can honestly call itself a pizza joint. (The pizza out here leaves something to be desired. They need to ship in some New Yorkers for assistance.)

The garlic knot is a little bundle of goodness for dipping. It’s a bit of pizza dough, tied in a knot, sprinkled with garlic salt and drenched in olive oil. I didn’t say it was good for you, I said it tastes good.

On the world food scale, clearly not the most exciting thing ever made. But on my new foods of 2009, it is my best of 2009 new food find.

  • I'm not a huge garlic person but I'd love to try this garlic knot you describe. Next time I'm in Denver, I'm adding it to the list of places to try. Thanks for sharing.

OHMIGAWSH! Did I just read the words "garlic" and "knot" together?! Oh, my gosh. It might not be the most exciting thing ever but wow. There are days when a Garlic Knot could definitely make it feel all better. LOL. I am going to be on the look out here in Bakersfield!
