The folks at Greater City: Providence are near and dear to my heart. With them around to tell me all about parking issues, traffic patterns and what’s happening at Saki’s, it’s almost like I never left Providence in the first place.
I have an extra soft spot for Jef Nickerson because he’s adorable and he works at RISD, where I spent some of my formative years making stuff that still lives in my parents’ basement.
What they have to say about themselves:
Greater City: Providence promotes the growth and development of the Greater Providence region in as urban a pattern as possible. Special focus is placed on the development of more walkable, affordable, and vibrant neighborhoods that are served by more robust mass transit and fueled by greater economic opportunity. We hope to see the Providence of the future is an urban environment and not a city plagued by inconsistent, uninspired, automobile-centric, and suburban-style development.
They’re all smarty-pants and funny, and if you do or once did live in PVD, you’ll want them on your daily list of things to read.
Go on, check them out.
