Country Music

I’ve recently started listening to country music. Right now, I’m watching VH1 story tellers: Dixie Chicks. I’m totally captivated.

I used to have a standard answer when people asked me what I listen to: anything but country. really, it was a toss up between singer/songwriter folky stuff and house/techno. Now, that’s not even close. I’m at the tipping point. More than half of what I listen to is country.

I’m not the first one to say it. In fact, I was the one telling my friends to shut up when they’d say it before: the Dixie Chicks are good.

I’m a little ashamed to admit it that I like country music. there’s some kind of hokey stigma attached to it, at least around here. Like folks who like country music are simple.

I give up. I must be simple. I can’t seem to stop.
