A Question of Perspective

Great Big Sky

Pretty in Pink

I spent today out in the great big sky.

We started out the day a little grumbly, checked the trunk for Megan’s soccer stuff (which I brilliantly took to the airport last Sunday… which meant she couldn’t play soccer last weekend… oops), and headed to Starbucks.

They were out of everything.

No, not coffee, food.

So we resigned to share a breakfast sandwich-y thing, and off we went to soccer.

Just blocks from the fields, we saw this gem of a pink mustang. Oy vey.

Look at her go!

Look at her go!

The game was on an unfamiliar field… like 2 miles from where we had to park the car. No, not really.

But it was a hike, which is why I was psyched when we finally landed with all of Megan’s soccer stuff next to the field, set up the chair in which I lounge, and started to get settled… and then she said, my socks are in the trunk.

Being the one with the (MUCH) higher BMI (and the one who was about to lounge about and sun myself as she ran about for 2 hours) I trudged back to the car to get them.

We left before the game was over, so don’t ask me who won. It was fun to watch. That’s Megan there under the giant red arrow.

I myself won a nice little sunburn on the left side of my arm. Yep, just the left side.

Why’d we leave early? So Megan could get to work on time. Priorities.

We got home, she showered, we both ate, and she was on her merry way. And I headed upstairs to wait out the 80 degree heat a bit before I started out on Week 5 Day 3 of my C25K.

Convinced by the handy weather reader on my computer’s desktop that the heat had broken, I headed out for my big 20 minute run, a little bit scared or what was in store.

I'd look more excited if I wasn't so damn tired

How’d it go? Good.

How do I feel? Good.

Did I want to lay down in the grass after I was done and NOT walk up the hill to the house? YEP.

Did I actually lay down? NOPE

It’s the little victories.

I MapMyRun-d the distance I went… 2.45 miles total, including some walking after the fact. Not great, but better than when I started, that’s for sure.

Baby steps…

  • The outside running is WAY better than the inside running...

LOVE the pictures -- it is so nice to see both you and Megan (I miss you guys!). Thanks, also, for the recounting of your day (sounds busy, but fun). Looks like you might have gotten some sun on your cheeks too, my friend!
