A Question of Perspective

New Masthead – What Do YOU Think?

I’ve been playing around with the masthead on for the past couple of days.

Those of you who read this in a reader like Google Reader won’t notice a difference… here’s what the new one looks like:

Do me a big fat favor, check it out on the site, and let me know what you think in the comments? Don’t be shy… I survived crits at RISD – I can take it. I’d love your feedback, even if it’s less than favorable.

Thanks!

I am not so much loving this new masthead, Elisa. I don't have any of the smart/creative/insightful things to say that shevll said, but I really liked the last one better -- with the line drawings...this one doesn't appeal to me at all.

Yeah, not so much with this one. I love watching you change things up, but I have no idea how this iteration fits the blog. The feeling of depth and space is good, but it feels disconnected from everything else here.
  • Disconnected how? Color? Concept? (Thanks for the feedback, Shev!)

Yes, disconnected colour palette. If you keep it, you'd want to change your link colour--but that's a small thing and not the reason it doesn't fit. It's cold, abstract, hard, and impersonal so, pretty much, the antithesis of you and your blogging. It's super-prominent, but doesn't speak to the content below. It has a 70's movie marquee/CGI wireframe feeling about it. It feels like an exercise. So who's the figure?

One a purely practical note, I read it "A Creative Participation" "Kickstart Encouraged." The lines are so strong, you can't really fight it to read it as intended.
