So, once we got back from the wedding festivities, Megan and I restarted P90X, in earnest.
And by that I mean I’ve been eating the diet and doing the workout religiously, and she’s been cooking up a storm. I mean like a mad storm.
The diet is a little nuts. It’s a TON of food. I mean like a wicked huge ton. I can’t eat it all.
This morning, not uncommonly, I was supposed to eat a 6 (!) egg-white omelet. Um, no. Not on my most lumberjack-like days do I want that much food for breakfast.
There have been 8oz turkey burgers with soup and a veggie on the side.
The workouts are hard. Harder than the first time I did them… mostly because my energy level is really low.
I’m a fruit addict (like 6-8 servings a day on average), and the diet is very high in protein, and very low in carbs… so I’m having a hard time with the sugar detox. It’s way better today than it was at the beginning of the ‘week’… but still a challenge.
Tomorrow is weigh-in day, and the start of week 2. I’ll post my weight in the morning.
For those of you interested, some examples of what I’m eating:
- Breakfast: 6 egg-white omelet, plus 8oz of cottage cheese, plus 1 cup of strawberries // smoothie: 1 cup skim milk, 1 cup frozen fruit, 1/2 banana, 1 scoop protein powder.
- Lunch: 6oz pork on top of 4 cups of greens/cabbage // 8oz turkey burger with 1/2 cup slaw and 1 cup vegetable soup
- Dinner: 8oz fish with 1 cup of rice and 1 cup of vegetable // 8oz of chicken with honey/chili glaze and 1 cup quinoa and 1 cup of vegetable
- Snacks (3 per day): 1 oz turkey jerky // P90X Recovery Drink // 8oz cottage cheese // protein bar
It’s a lot of food. Did I mention that already? I’ve been sticking to the diet religiously, though most meals I can’t eat everything I’m supposed to. The diet is the same for men and women, so I have to assume some leeway there.
And then there was last night – I went off the rails a bit and had a couple of beers. That’s a condiment, right?
