Rhode Island School Closings Are Popular

I’ve been skulking around in my Google Analytics, and have found that a large number of visitors over these past few days of freezing weather have been folks looking for information on school closings in Rhode Island.

Apparently, the post about schools being closed has been popular with the bots, and crawled relatively well. Unfortunately, folks who are coming here are not finding what they need… they want to know if their kid has school tomorrow.  All they’re getting is a list of closings from December18th, 2008.

I’m a Rhode Islander, born and raised.  We never had school canceled.  Granted, I went to private school, so the bus thing was not an issue… we didn’t have bus transport.  But even still…  I can’t remember all that many days that school was canceled due to weather.  Hurricane Gloria in the 3rd grade, and a smattering of snow-related closings, but nothing major.

It seems schools close every other day now… and though I understand the perspective, it seems a little excessive.

BUT, if I was a high school student, regardless of my coat ownership, I’d be psyched to  not have to stand in the 8 degree morning and wait for the bus.  Blech.

Anyway, hello, parents who got here by mistake.  Feel free to poke around.  Or (and!) check out turntoten.com’s closings for what you were really looking for…
