Today’s Best Thing Since Sliced Bread

Growling at Leah, long ago... when I still had facial adornments.
I’m having a day.
The kind where I don’t know how the hell it’s almost over, but it is, and I didn’t do any of the 4,978 things I needed to.
But it’s almost 6p on the east coast, so it’s somewhat a moot point.
It was lovely just outside my window all day. Now, almost 4p, almost time for me to go outside, and it’s almost raining.
WTF, weather?
Sliced Bread
On the upside, I connected with an old summer camp buddy today… she’s just back from Maui, where Megan and I will honeymoon (Is that a verb? Can it be?) in a few months. She totally made my day.
What’d she do to make my day? Just existed in the world.
I’ve got a special fondness for folks with whom I shared 4-8 weeks at a time in Maine every year. It’s a little Lord of the Flies, as Woolverine points out, and I like to torture my mother and tell her that it’s all because of all-girl camp and all-girl school that I’m an all-girl girl… wait, what was I saying?
Anyway, back to my camp friend being today’s best thing since sliced bread.
I like nice people. I have no use for mean people. I have no use for intellectual superiority and fabricated *coolness* born of high school popularity. She’s one of those nice people. She sent me a list of places she liked in Maui. Just because. We knew each other a million years ago. Really, almost 20 years ago, and really, not that well.
What’s my point?
Oy vey, if I must have one, it’s this:
Be nice for no reason. To someone you know or someone you don’t. You just might be their best thing since sliced bread for the day.
