We’ve officially (in some states) tied the knot!
Megan and I said our vows in front of a few of our closest friends and family on Friday, and then partied with 110 of our nearest and dearest at Country Gardens.
It was a good time, and slightly overwhelming.
We’re told it was lovely, but frankly, I don’t remember much other than the deep breathing I was employing to keep upright during the ceremony that had Megan in a fit of giggles as I near squeezed her fingers off because I hanging on so tightly.
The first dance went on for what seemed like forever and ever, and somehow it was the wrong version of the song (Today by Josh Radin), but who knew that but us? Nobody.
The food was tasty – not that we really ate much, but other people say they went for seconds – catered by Young’s in Seekonk.
The cake was big and fluffy, and I got to experience it up my nose, which was fantastic. Megan got it down her dress in retribution. Scrumptions made the cake. Surprising, I know. They also made us some fancy little monogrammed cookies, that my mom had whipped up as a surprise. Nice.
Yukio, a good friend of my parents’, who used to own New Japan in downtown Providence, gave us a pretty fab gift – sushi and sashimi during cocktail hour. It was a hit!
My gay boyfriend did Megan’s hair and makeup, and I was beside myself (again.) To me, she was the most breathtaking woman on the planet. He totally hit the mark.
Oh and it rained. A lot. That was the only bit that we wished could have been different… but really, years from now, that’s not what we will remember.
We’ll remember a lovely day, surrounded by our family and friends, giggling through the ceremony, my inability to stop staring at Megan, and cake up my nose.

it was *totally* lovely. you dancing with your dad was my top moment (following closely by the electric slide). jeez, i’m crying again just thinking about it. thanks. any other pics yet? people want to see me in drag.
So many congratulations!
Congratulations and much happiness to you both!
And, there’s an old superstition that rain on your wedding day is lucky. The Italian phrase for it is “Sposa bagnata, sposa fortunata”, which means that a wet bride is a lucky bride.
And, while I knew that rain = luck, I didn’t know that phrase without the internet in the form of http://ezinearticles.com/?Wedding-Day-Rain&id=1339956
so thank you, internet.
I bow to the Internet Gods. Thanks for the well wishes, all!
